Edwin HubbleEdwin Hubble revolutionized astrophysics, he was the first astronomer to find observable evidence that our universe is growing. Which then lead to the discovery of the "big bang" theory. Hubble quickly observed what he determined to be other galaxies beyond our own, this opened up studies of space that surpassed the Milky Way. Later he found out these other galaxies were moving away from each other, this newly acquired information supported the
'big bang" theory. Mr. Edwin Hubble to this day is still one of the most famous astronomers in this world, his legacy lives on. NASA named the Hubble Telescope after this man as a tribute to his hard work and dedication in astrophysics. |

Sunspots are spots on the sun's surface that is slightly darker and cooler than its surroundings.
A solar active region is an area in the sun's atmosphere that has a strong magnetic field.
The chromosphere is the irregular surface of the sun, it is made up of spike shaped structures called spicules.
The convection zone is the highest solar interior and it extends from the radiative zone to the surface of the sun. It's made up of boiling convection cells, which makes up 66% of the sun's volume but only slightly more than 2% of its mass.
The radiative zone is this huge spherical shell the emits radiation outwards, it takes each photon millions of years to reach the surface. this spherical shell makes up 32% of the sun's volume and 48% of its mass
The suns core has great temperatures and pressure, most of the suns nuclear fusion happens in the core. In the core hydrogen if fused to making helium when the energy is released it is emit as visible light. the core has 2% of the suns volume but has almost half the mass. the core is 15 times more dense than lead.
The corona is the suns outer atmosphere, it extends about half a million miles from the surface and it can be as hot as 1 million degrees kelvin. you can actually see the corona from earth during a solar eclipse because the main radiation is blocked by the moon.
The sun is 4.6 billion years old, and can potentially last another 5 billion years.
Scientist believe the small changes in solar energy play a big role in the climate. The sun's energy output during an 11 year period waxes and wanes, increasing when there are more sunspots and decreasing when there are fewer sunspots.
The Acrimsat was one solar mission that's data is used to gain knowledge on the sun's role on global climate change, another mission is the SORCE (Solar Radiation and Climate Experiment) and its mission was to monitor the sun's energy output, which helps scientist to understand the earth's absorption and radiation of energy.
The sun is made up of mostly hydrogen about 92.1% and helium at 7.8%
